Network Switches and Physical Security Devices (IP Series Part 6)

This one-hour online training course, Network Switches and Physical Security Devices (IPPS Series – Part 6)  instructs electronic security technicians in the connections of IP enabled physical security devices such as IP Cameras onto local networks. Detailed information is provided on the basic topologies of common local networks, the function of network hubs, and network switches. Common features of network switches are highlighted including PoE applications, switch management options, Virtual LANs and their applications for physical security devices.

Product Description / Course Objectives

As the electronic security industry transitions into IP-based equipment, it is important for security technicians to understand how to connect devices onto local network switches, how switches function on a local network, and the various programming options that are available in the common network switches in use at client locations.  This course will assist technicians in both the knowledge of how switches work and also provide them with the terminologies of various switch options so that students can accurately discuss connection options with their clients’ IT management.
