Power Over Ethernet

This two hour course Power over Ethernet consists of a software tutorial, followed by a brief test of representative and relevant topics selected to prove authentic interaction with the included material. The course begins with a brief introduction to the Power Over Ethernet standard as it relates to the broad category of security installations. Proficiency in these basic points must be proven through examination before course credit is given. Specifically, this course will cover the general requirements for Power Over Ethernet installation and use, limitations of Power Over Ethernet, specific troubleshooting techniques, and detailed information on how it works. Specific guidelines including, but not limited to, installation, use, voltage, and equipment for both proprietary and corporate systems will be covered.

Product Description / Course Objectives

Network and security professionals are responsible for the proper operations of the systems they install. Consequently, it is extremely important for all such professionals, in a variety of industries, to maintain their knowledge and skill base. This two hour course, Basic Elements of Power Over Ethernet, is designed to meet the needs of the broad spectrum of professionals who work with networking hardware. It provides a review of general requirements for Power Over Ethernet installation and use, limitations of Power Over Ethernet, and specific troubleshooting techniques. This course may be used alone as an “introduction course,” or may be combined with future courses designed for specific types of network installations. It is important to note that this course is not meant as a design specification or to substitute as instruction for untrained persons.
