Output Device Proficiency

The course, Output Device Proficiency teaches the alarm professional useful information about the impact local notification can make on the general public, intrusion, or fire notification systems. The student will experience the perspective of both the burglar and the end user about the presence of a professionally installed alarm system and the extent to which proficiency affects alarm system performance. Skilled professionals taking this course will recognize the importance of noise ordinances and their relevance regarding audible devices. A variety of output devices will be discussed including their vulnerabilities to tampering and features that are either built-in or added to insure the continuous reliability of those products. The student will discover an approach to dealing with smash-and-grab professional thieves known as ram raiders, who can be gone with thousands of dollars in high-end merchandise before the police arrive.
