What are the initial requirements for a licensed security or low voltage installer?

A license is required for any individual engaging in the business of installing, erecting, repairing or altering electrical equipment for the generation, transmission or utilization of electrical energy; however a specific exemption is provided in s 21-11-6 for any “work personally performed on a structure by the owner or occupant thereof.” Regulations governing fire alarm systems are set forth in 29-3-12

Installers must be licensed. Low voltage exam required by state fire marshal.
